I too have the same problem of my grout drying about 3-4 shades lighter than expected. I tried the damp sponge approach and the grout looks awesome. Real rich mocha color. When it dries, it is more dirt colored. From the reading I get that the only way to darken it permanently is to use an enhancer/sealer? Probably Aquamix?

In other words, assume the tile has been grouted and allowed to dry thoroughly. Will applying enhancer sealer effect the grout color so much so that it will look like it did when it was wet? I want the answer to be no, that the sealer only slightly darkens the grout but never as dark as it originally looked when mixed with water for application.

13 years ago. I already answered this in the bathrooms forum, but for the sake of those who might do a search later, being that this is a DIY, I'd agree-- enhance it before you grout. As for allowing the 4-5 days, that refers to sealing AFTER grouting. If you're just sealing the stone, you should be able to do so within 24- 36 hours.
