Iran's cement industry has a history of more than eight decades of activity. With an annual production capacity of 87 million tons, this industry holds the world's sixth place in terms of production capacity. Currently, there are 96 cement production lines active in 74 factories across Iran, nearly half of them are less than 10 years old.
Iran has produced 25.654 million tons of cement in the first four months of the Iranian calendar year (starts on March 21st), recording a five-percent rise for the same period last year. 25.213 million tons of clinker was produced in last four months by the The Islamic Republic.
The total global cement production during 2018 amounted to 4.1 billion tons, showing a 1.23% growth YOY, according to Financial Tribune. Iran's capacity for clinker production last year remained at 80 million tons, the same as in 2017. As such, Iran had the sixth largest clinker production capacity in the world, sharing the spot with Russia.

In the 2021 financial year, Iran produced 68.3Mt, exported 11Mt and consumed 65Mt, including imports.
